Welcome to the fourth edition of the energy briefing update!
If you’re not yet familiar with this newsletter for businesses looking to manage the risks – and capture the opportunities – of Australia’s energy transition and net zero transformation, it is a quarterly update from the Energy Efficiency Council (EEC) bringing you practical, up-to-date information on grant opportunities, energy markets and energy policy.
It’s been a rollercoaster few months for energy and carbon news, with the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Glasgow, electricity and gas prices hitting both highs and lows, and the Australian Government releasing it's second annual Low Emissions Technology Statement.
This edition unpacks all of that, but, perhaps most importantly for business strategy, it includes the launch of our latest guide, Leveraging tax incentives to improve energy performance. This guide exists to support Australian businesses with investing in smart energy management, and has been developed by the EEC with the support of the Commonwealth Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources (DISER) and the Australian Taxation Office (ATO).
You can read the guide now, but if you're keen to learn more, join the EEC, Business Australia and some special guests on Thursday 17 February 2022 at 12pm AEDT to unpack how the current tax depreciation incentives make investing right now in improving energy management a financially and strategically smart decision. About Navigating a dynamic energy landscape
There is an enormous amount of information on energy in the public domain, yet it can be hard for business leaders to extract what matters for their businesses.
Navigating a dynamic energy landscape: a briefing for Australian businesses is an executive-level briefing designed to cut through the noise and help businesses confidently navigate Australia’s dynamic energy landscape.
The sector spotlights and other resources that accompany the briefing exist to support this aim.
This initiative is delivered by the Energy Efficiency Council with the support of industry and the NSW Department of Industry, Planning and Environment.
