June 2022: NSW Energy Briefing business lunches
In June 2022, Business Illawarra and Business Hunter hosted Energy briefing business lunches, featuring speakers from the Energy Efficiency Council, Business Australia, and industry-leading businesses sharing their experiences in energy management. The events were attended by leaders of businesses in Wollongong, Newcastle, and the surrounding regions. Participants had the opportunity to learn about and discuss the importance of energy management in managing the risks and capturing the opportunities of Australia's energy transition and net zero transformation.
At the Business Illawarra-hosted lunch in Wollongong, attendees heard about BlueScope Steel’s energy management journey from Matthew McKenzie, Manager of Energy Sourcing and Utilisation. Matt spoke about BlueScope’s use of data to drive decision-making and investment in energy efficiency, renewables and PPAs, the challenges they have faced in their decarbonisation journey and their collaboration efforts to invest in research and development to address the technological and economic challenges of decarbonisation.
