November 2021: Launch of the fourth edition of Navigating a dynamic energy landscape: a briefing for Australian businesses

On Wednesday 10 November at 2pm AEDT we launched the 2021 edition of Navigating a dynamic energy landscape: a briefing for Australian business.

An esteemed panel of industry experts discussed what businesses can do to manage the risks - and capture the opportunities - of Australia's energy and net zero transformation. This panel was moderated by Luke Menzel, CEO of the Energy Efficiency Council, and included:

  • Sally Townsend, Head of Sustainability, Blackmores Group;

  • Wei Sue, System Lead - Sustainable Corporates, ClimateWorks Australia; and

  • Holly Taylor, Head of Projects, Energy Efficiency Council.

 

Speakers

Luke Menzel

CEO, Energy Efficiency Council

Luke Menzel is CEO of the Energy Efficiency Council, Australia's peak body for energy efficiency, energy management and demand response. Luke leads the Council’s work to make sensible, cost effective energy efficiency measures standard practice across the Australian economy.

Luke sits on a number of government and independent advisory committees, and is Vice President of the Australian Sustainable Built Environment Council (ASBEC).

 

Holly Taylor

Head of Projects, Energy Efficiency Council

Holly leads the Council's projects and partnerships work. She focuses on strategic projects and partnerships that build the market for energy management, facilitating engagement with members and stakeholders, and connecting them with all aspects of the Council's programs.

Holly has worked internationally with private and public sector clients that work on innovative solutions to tackle climate change. While in Europe, she worked for the UN, CDP and, most recently, Salix Finance, where she worked with councils, facilitating the development and delivery of energy and carbon management plans through energy upgrades.

 

Wei Sue

System Lead - Sustainable Corporates, ClimateWorks Australia

Wei leads ClimateWorks Australia's Sustainable Corporates team, which focuses on accelerating systems change in organisational-level net zero strategies of companies and investors.

Wei recently supported the Australian Industry Energy Transitions Initiative, working with large corporates in Australia’s hard-to-abate sectors. She has also led a number of projects to develop decarbonisation strategies, including Monash University’s Net Zero Strategy and was the project manager and co-author of ClimateWorks’ Energy Productivity Index for Companies project, publishing the first global energy productivity benchmark of listed companies.  

In 2017-18, Wei gained management consulting experience in the energy sector, working with electricity networks and retailers to develop strategies and plans to integrate distributed energy resources.

Prior to ClimateWorks, Wei was a sustainability consultant, working with government and corporates developing sustainability strategies.

 

Sally Townsend

Head of Sustainability – Blackmores Group

Sally Townsend is a passionate Sustainability and Communications professional. She has 20 years of experience in the retail and healthcare sectors and specialises in developing strategies with a strong corporate narratives and deep alignment throughout organisations.

In her current role as Head of Sustainability for Blackmores Group, Sally has responsibility for the Group Sustainability Vision aligned to the UN Sustainable Development Goals and is working to integrate these commitments into the core business strategy to deliver on the company’s vision for a world where people and nature thrive together. In 2020, Blackmores committed to Net Zero Emissions by 2030 and has progressed the journey to have a deeper understanding of human rights, climate resilience and biodiversity impacts across their global supply chain.
